Powering
A photovoltaic system powers MuTe. We chose this methodology taking into account Colombian volcanoes are located in rural zones where access to the national power grid is limited. The system consists of two 100 W solar cells (18 V, 5.56 A) and a battery bank with an autonomy of 6 days in cloudy conditions.
The SiPM conditioning boards are powered by a dual power source (-3/+3V) regulated from the battery bank output (~14 V) using a step-down circuit. A 5 V terminal supplies the MAROC3A development board, the trigger system, the SiPM bias board, and the SBC (Raspberry Pi). A controllable high voltage power source (Hamamatsu C11204-01) biases the SiPMs from 40 V to 80 V.
